Focus
I walked into the guidance office to get my report card from last semester that I had not received. As soon as I got a hand of it, I skimmed through the grades and was fairly happy. That was until I got home.
When I got home, I realized that I had been focusing on the grade and not on how I could improve. I still had a fixed-mindset. Knowing this, I snatched my book bag and took out my report card to see my comments so that I could learn from my mistakes. In 5 out of 8 of my courses, my teachers mentioned either lack of focus or patience. It occurred to me, that this is most defintely the biggest area I have to work on.
After realizing this, I remembered I had bookmarked the website Calm.com. This website has few features that helps you mediate or just find yourself It was a possible solution, so I opened it up and set up a guided meditation for 5 minutes. Astonishing!! Just before the meditation I couldn’t sit down to work and now I’m writing this article and giving it my full attention. I haven’t stopped for a break at all, unlike in my usual blogs where I take a break almost after every 4 sentences.
I think we all have the ability to stay focus and be patient. The only problem is that it is buried beneath us and it is our job to pull it out when it is most needed.
I have made a promise to myself to try to have a guided meditation before school starts every day. If I do lose focus, I will ask permission to take a 2 minute meditation session. Calm.com is the answer to my lack of focus. Can it help you too?
