Friday I had my first “interview”. It’s in quotations because it was more like a meeting. I was very excited. Since it was at 4:00pm I took some clothes to school, changed, and then headed out straight from school. I dressed formally. The traffic was crazy it was already 4:00 and still haven’t arrived.
I arrived at 4:15. When I saw Mr. rither open the door I was surprised that he was in casual clothes. It wasn’t anything bad, just had a different expectation. We sat down and talked at first it was a little awkward we talked normally about his life and my life and then we headed to the NGO topic.
What I realized was that I had not go into detail on what I wanted to talk about with him. The day before I went over what we should talk about. That wasn’t enough I realized that I should have gotten into more detail and tell him more detailed solutions for the better of the NGO. This doesn’t mean the meeting was useless. It was a great meeting we did talk about many solution and goals but I do believe a lot of time could have been saved if the meeting was planned better.
Tips for next interview/meeting
-Go through a complete breakthrough on what to talk about (DETAILS)
-Know your interviewee and dress accordingly
-Bring laptop if needed to show work
-Have papers well organized easy to find
-Know the problem and have at least 3 different solutions to present
-Write down notes
