Those 5 days were great, I was disconnected from the world but at the same time I was connected. I was connected to the world not the people in it. There are no limitations to not having Internet think about it. Internet was invented just 50 years ago. What do you think they did before it? Nowadays everyone believes that technology is a must for growth and development. I beg to differ I believe technology sometimes restrains us from succeeding; it’s filled with distractions and simplicity.
Since I moved to lurin I’ve learned to do my homework without Internet. I can truly say that it has been great to do homework with absolutely no distractions. I was able to finish my homework faster than ever and what I believe to be some of the best work I have done.
As I said in my last post we are bombarded with social media over and over again. Its time to bring it to a halt. It’s trash, Internet trash. A few days ago there was a strike here in Lima directed to the TV channels. The meaning of the riot was to stop playing TV trash. They wanted to watch something that meant something not what a “TV star” did over the weekend.
Why hasn’t there been an inicative for a strike against Internet trash? Why do we object to watch trash but not object do writing trash or spending time on it. We can live without Internet but generation Y has been using the Internet & social media on a daily basis since there first memory. They believe its essential. Now that most schools are using and enforcing the use of Internet, this generation believes that if there is no Internet there is no success. The daily use of internet has made us believe that internet is key for good research, for a good business, for good marketing, etc.
The generation has become so dependent on the Internet that they believe without it they are useless, that nothing is possible. They believe that everything has already been invented. I know this because I’ve believed this and used it in my favor. Many times parents and teachers have asked me why didn’t you do your homework. I didn’t lie to them, I didn’t have Internet and this was a viable answer people understood that if you don’t have Internet you cant work. You see its not just this generation but everyone that uses internet daily, that believes the Internet has a correlation with success. It has been encoded in our heads
Internet=success
That’s not necessarily true. Sure the Internet can help you reach success but your success does not revolve around it. When you want to get something done you will do it with or without Internet. You will surpass those barriers and get through. The internet is not a helping hand, it is a barrier that keep us from succeeding because it distracts us, it make us believe that all we need is the internet, its closes our minds to the other variety of resources even thought its filled with resources.
All we need is determination and commitment but these two aspects will not work without passion. Passion is our helping hand that drives us. Passion can be tricky to find though. When we are giving a task we need to find how we can incorporate our passion into it so that we can excel in it. If there is no passion there will never be the triumph that you will want to see. You rarely see a successful person that isn’t passionate about what they do.
It’s this reason that some of us to not get ahead in some task because we are not passionate about it.
For example: I need to post my blog every Sunday but I turn them in late sometimes because it’s hard to find a topic your passionate about every week. I will not write about what I did last weekend I want to write something that make reflection which make it harder. We are driven by passion that leads us to over pass any barriers.
Its time to derive from so much use of the internet and start finding out passion and making that connection to everything we do. The Internet will not take us to success the Internet is merely and instrument that can be used it is not the engine that drive it.
