By John 'Lofty' Wiseman
“The essential book even for those who don’t like adventure” – Nicolas Chavez
With a 4.5/5 rating from Barnes & Noble, it got a solid 5 from me. SAS is a change from your typical book, it isn’t a story or a biography, it more like a textbook. I have never loved any textbook until i read this one.
I highly recommend this book for any adventure lover wether you be new to adventure or have years of experience.
I do agree that it would be a boring read for someone that has no interest in adventure but i strongly urge everyone to read it. This book isn't about be ready for an adventure it about being ready for any natural disaster.
This book doesn’t teach you about survival skills while camping it teaches us about survival skills in general. It goes over all the basics as well which as some points can be a little boring for those that have the experience then it get into topics that most would have never thought about learning. The book spends no time trying to engage the reader though. John knew what his intentions were when writing this book, they were to teach people about survival during a natural disaster. It was not to engage someone to read his book or to learn to love survival skills.
The books consist of 11 main topics, which are each divided into their won chapters.
1. Essentials
2. Strategy
3. Climate & Terrain
4. Food
5. Camp Craft
6. Reading the Sing
7. On the move
8. Health
9. Survival at sea
10. Rescue
11. Disasters
You might never use some of these ideas or tips but what happens when you find yourself in a situation of disaster wouldn’t you have wished you read this book.
A book you can trust by John Wiseman a former survival instructor for britans elite special air service. (an all-conditions strike force considered by some to be tougher than the U.S. Navy SEALs),
